The need for comprehensive sex ed has never been more urgent. The #MeToo movement is a much needed and long overdue wake-up call that we must do more to give young people information about consent and how to build healthy, respectful relationships.

The Healthy Youth Act would do just that by ensuring when public schools in Massachusetts teach sex ed, they use a comprehensive curriculum that is medically accurate, LGBTQ-inclusive, and provides lessons on consent and healthy relationships.

Call your state representative today. Tell them to prioritize and pass the Healthy Youth Act.

What to Say (Call Script)

Hi, my name is __________, and I live in ___________.

I'm calling to ask my state rep to pass the Healthy Youth Act and improve access to comprehensive sex ed for Massachusetts youth.

The Healthy Youth Act is commonsense legislation that ensures when public schools in Massachusetts decide to teach sex ed, they provide a curriculum to their students that is medically-accurate, age-appropriate, and LGBTQ-inclusive.

This legislation would help ensure young people learn about consent, how to build healthy relationships, the benefits of delaying sex, as well as how to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections if they become sexually active. This bill is not a mandate and continues to allow parents and guardians to take their children out of school-based sex ed.

I support the Healthy Youth Act because [add your own story, if you like].

In the #MeToo era and as sexually transmitted infection rates rise in Massachusetts, I expect my state rep to pass this bill and ensure young people have the information they need to stay safe and healthy.

Thank you for your time.
