Washington, DC -- Carly Fiorina went on The View this morning where she continued to lean hard into her repeated lies about Planned Parenthood and women’s health, prompting The View host Whoopi Goldberg to state, “I need to stop you because that is not -- you know that's not true.” Host Joy Behar also stated, “That offends my sensibility to hear you say something like that when you know it's not true.”
Fiorina was also called out on her tenuous platform of policies to “help” women, including falsely overstating the capacity of Community Health Centers’ to take on all of patients Planned Parenthood provides health care to and refusing to acknowledge American’s solid support for access to safe and legal abortion -- a fact that has remained consistent for over a decade.
The View joins a long list of media outlets and fact-checkers that have challenged a litany of Fiorina’s lies. In the last two months:
Fiorina was called out on Fox News for he rattempt to claim that 92% of job losses during the first term of the Obama administration were held by women, a wildly inaccurate claim that has also been debunked by multiple fact-checkers.
Carly Fiorina lied again during the October 28 debate stating that “every single policy” of President Obama and those endorsed by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “has been demonstrably bad for women.”
Carly Fiorina flat-out lied about Planned Parenthood during the Republican presidential primary debate on September 16. She described a video that even the maker of the video smear campaign agrees simply does not exist. When multiple media fact-checkers called her out for lying, instead of apologizing she doubled down. Finally, in an an attempt to bend reality to Fiorina’s platform, her campaign created a fake video to match her story.
JOY: It seems to me you are against programs that let women make choices for their lives. For example, I read that you would like to overthrow Roe v. Wade. You’re against government mandated maternity leave — which is a women’s issue. You’re against raising the minimum wage … How do you reconcile these two positions that I just explained to you?
CARLY: Well, you just went through the litany of the left, by the way. That is the litany of the left. That the only way you can be pro-woman is to agree with the left's prescriptions for women. Here's the problem, though. The prescriptions that you laid out aren't helping women. So you've laid out a bunch of stuff.
Let's just start with abortion. I mentioned common ground. Actually, the American people have found common ground on this issue. Whether you're pro-choice or pro- life — I’m pro-life. But whether you're pro-choice or pro-life, the majority of Americans are horrified by the reality that we're harvesting baby parts through late-term abortions.
WHOOPI: Carly, I need to stop you. I need to stop youbecause that is not -- you know that's not true.
CARLY: You asked me a question.
WHOOPI: Carly, you know no one is harvesting baby parts. No one’s harvesting baby parts.
CARLY: Well , that's interesting. interesting that -- that's interesting ...
WHOOPI: Come on, girl.
CARLY: … It’s interesting that Planned Parenthood just announced they were no longer going to take compensation for that.
WHOOPI: They were not harvesting baby parts, baby. Go ahead, Carly. You have the floor. My bad.
JOY: Please don’t say things like that that are not true. That offends my sensibility to hear you say something like that when you know it's not true.
WHOOPI: You can take issue with Planned Parenthood. But you have to sort of … I think what we need to hear is what it is you would like to see women dealing with. Because we know that the only women who are really affected by Planned Parenthood are women who are low income.
FACT CHECK: Carly Fiorina is lying again

Fiorina has dismissed legislation that would address wage disparity based on gender: Fiorina dismissed fair pay legislation such as the Paycheck Fairness Act and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act as “tokens” and “gestures” that don’t help women “advance.” [CNN, 6/30/14]
Fiorina would make it harder for women to access affordable birth control: Fiorina opposes the contraception mandate in the Affordable Care Act, which ensures that women have access to no-copay birth control. Regarding the failed Blunt amendment that would allow employers to deny employees birth control, she said: “...There are some who are calling this a vote on a woman's right to choose and a woman's access to contraception. I think that's fundamentally backwards.” [CBS News, 3/2/12]
Fiorina doesn’t support enacting a paid maternity leave mandate: “Carly Fiorina said on Sunday that she opposes changing federal law to require companies to provide paid maternity leave. Her position is at odds with the policies of virtually every developed country on Earth and considerably worse than the maternity leave policy in war-torn Afghanistan.” [Huffington Post, 8/10/15]
