Quote from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President of Planned Parenthood Action Fund:
“Tonight’s debate was most notable for the things you didn’t hear. The only time women came up at all was when a Republican exclaimed that women aren’t “suitable” for the same jobs that men do in the military. While Republican candidates discussed many threats facing Americans, there was utter silence when it came to threats against women who were simply seeking lifesaving reproductive health care.
“It’s no surprise that these issues weren’t discussed, since every single candidate on stage tonight has embraced a position on women’s health that no successful candidate for President has held in recent history --- blocking patients from accessing care at Planned Parenthood; opposing safe, legal abortion across the board; and attempting to restrict women’s access to birth control. These policies not only would decimate access to reproductive health care, but they are flat out rejected by the American people.”
