For Immediate Release: 11.01.16

Washington D.C. -- This week is the 38th anniversary of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, but women, especially women of color, still face unacceptable obstacles and discrimination in the work place. According to a new analysis by National Partnership for Women & Families, women in every industry report pregnancy discrimination and women report pregnancy discrimination across races and ethnicities, but black women are most affected.

Statement from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President of Planned Parenthood Action Fund:

“With the election less than a week away, today is a reminder that this election is about real people and the struggles they face — and which candidate best understands and cares about their lives. Donald Trump has said pregnant women are an inconvenience for employers. Hillary Clinton has proposals to help working parents. This election, voters must decide who best understands the challenges everyday Americans face and has real solutions to help them thrive. There is only one choice, and it is Hillary Clinton.”
