Washington, DC -- Planned Parenthood Action Fund released the following statement after tonight’s second Democratic presidential debate:

Statement from Dawn Laguens, Vice President of Planned Parenthood Action Fund:

“Tonight’s debate underscored both the stakes and the contrast in this election. On tonight’s stage we heard candidates argue to protect the incredible gains we’ve made in expanding access to health care, make the case that women should be paid equal wages for equal work, and explain that we should ensure all communities feel safe and live free from violence and intimidation. In contrast, every single leading Republican running for President wants to block patients from accessing care at Planned Parenthood; ban safe, legal abortion; and take away insurance coverage for birth control.

“Secretary Clinton said it best tonight: The rights that we have fought for, and won, over the years --- from women’s rights, to voting rights, to rights for the LGBT community, to the ability to access care at Planned Parenthood health centers --- will be at stake in this election. It’s time to move America forward, and keep building on the progress we’ve made.”
