WASHINGTON, DC – As they launch their largest-ever GOTV efforts in key states, Planned Parenthood advocacy and political groups are up with new ads campaigns in Alaska and Colorado today to ensure voters know the truth about Senate candidates Dan Sullivan and Cory Gardner’s records and positions on women’s health and rights. In Colorado, the groups are launching digital ads featuring Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Cecile Richards explaining why women shouldn’t trust Cory Gardner. In Alaska, a new radio ad will air featuring Alaska resident and Planned Parenthood Votes volunteer Sam, talking about why Dan Sullivan’s values are out of touch with Alaska women and families.

Colorado: The Colorado digital ad, which follows a radio buy last week, features Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Cecile Richards emphasizing all the reasons why Colorado women and families shouldn’t trust Cory Gardner. More so than any candidate in the country, Cory Gardner has gone to great lengths to moderate his positions on women’s health on the campaign trail — demonstrating that it has become nearly impossible to win statewide office by opposing women’s health. In the ad, Richards also highlights that Gardner voted to cut funds for the preventive services that Planned Parenthood provides. She ends with “Cory Gardner isn’t looking out for women and women shouldn’t trust Cory Gardner.” You can learn more about the Colorado Senate candidates and their positions on women’s health here.
Alaska: The Alaska radio ad highlights Dan Sullivan’s support of the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobbydecision, which allows bosses to deny their employees access to birth control coverage, that he wants to outlaw safe and legal abortion, and that if he gets elected to the U.S. Senate he and his allies could allow the government to intrude in a woman’s most personal health care decisions. Sam, the supporter in the radio ad ends with “Now, maybe it’s because Dan Sullivan didn't grow up here, but he needs to know that in Alaska, those kinds of intrusions won’t fly. So this election day, let’s go to the polls to stand up for Alaska values by voting no on Dan Sullivan.” The radio ad follows a three-part mail program and digital ads. Planned Parenthood advocacy and political groups are running their largest-ever turnout effort to educate and mobilize voters around women’s health this November. The campaign, called Women are Watching, makes clear that these are health and economic issues for women and their families, not a political talking point to be dismissed. Already, more than 2,000 staff and thousands of volunteers have knocked more than 1,641,000 doors and made 784,200 phone calls.

In the Colorado digital ad, Cecile Richards says:
An important message about your basic healthcare that you need to hear before Tuesday:
This is Cecile Richards with important facts about Cory Gardner.
Cory Gardner supports legislation that would ban abortion.
His Birth Control plan means women could pay more, not less.
And Cory Gardner voted to cut funds for the cancer screenings that Planned Parenthood provides.
Cory Gardner isn't looking out for women.
And Women shouldn't trust Cory Gardner.
The volunteer in the Alaska radio ad says:
Hi, I’m Sam. I grew up here in Alaska where I was raised to be independent minded and to live my life as I choose.
But Dan Sullivan has different ideas for Alaska women.
Sullivan believes that bosses and politicians should decide whether or not a woman has access to affordable birth control.
And if elected to the U.S. Senate, Sullivan’s policies could give the government control over what I do with my body.
He wants to ban nearly all abortions for Alaska women and interfere with personal medical decisions that should be between me and my doctor.
That’s an intrusion into my life that I’m not okay with.
Now maybe it’s because Dan Sullivan didn’t grow up here, but he needs to know: In Alaska, those kinds of intrusions won’t fly.
So this Election Day, let’s go to the polls to stand up for Alaska values by voting no on Dan Sullivan.
