Washington, DC –– Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Planned Parenthood Votes, and local Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations are doing one final push to get voters to the polls on Election Day.
All across the country, volunteers and staff will be phone banking, knocking on doors, bringing coffee to people waiting in line to vote, and more. There will also be a #PinkOutTheVote SnapChat geofilter in key battleground states to encourage voters to get out to the polls.
For the past two weeks, thousands of volunteers have been knocking on doors and making phone calls to #PinkOutTheVote and elect women’s health champions up and down the ticket on Election Day. Volunteers and staff have already reached out to more than 4.9 million unique voters multiple times, including more than 250,000 door knocks and phone calls this past weekend in the key battleground states of NH, PA, OH, NV, WI, NC. More than 1,000 volunteers and staff plan are out in force today, reaching out to at least 100,000 voters on Election Day.
Volunteers will be talking to voters not just about the presidential race, but also the U.S. Senate races and other down ballot races in their state. Volunteers are also available to speak with reporters all day in Pennsylvania, Nevada, Ohio, Florida, New Hampshire, and more.
Quote from Deirdre Schifeling, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Votes:
“We knew that volunteers were fired up about electing Hillary Clinton, but we couldn’t have predicted this level of enthusiasm or the influx of volunteers we’ve seen these past two weeks. Women across this country are excited to vote for a champion of women’s health and rights, and they’re excited to make history. We’ve seen mother-daughter teams coming in together, and even mother-daughter-granddaughter teams coming in to do what it takes to elect Hillary Clinton president. It’s clear this election is too important to sit out. Now there’s only one thing left to do: Go vote!”
Kelly Nestman, Volunteer, Pittsburgh, PA:
"This election is personal. Hillary Clinton boldly campaigned for women’s health and rights. She will be a champion for us in the White House. All Donald Trump has offered is racism, misogyny, hatred, and division. We deserve better. That's why we're making sure voters get out to the polls today and vote for Hillary Clinton.”
#PinkOutTheVote is part of Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations’ efforts to elect Hillary Clinton to the presidency and women’s health champions to the U.S. Senate and down ballot. Together, the organizations are running their largest electoral program in history. Through robust canvassing programs, phone banks, direct mail, and ads, Planned Parenthood Votes and Planned Parenthood Action Fund will spend $30 million reaching and educating voters, with a strong focus in North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Reproductive health care is a deciding electoral issue.Recent polling shows that voters in swing states have an overwhelmingly positive view of Planned Parenthood and are less likely to support candidates that have voted to defund the health care provider.
Planned Parenthood Votes is an independent expenditure committee registered with the Federal Election Commission.
