Campaign Targets Kelly Ayotte, Pat Toomey, Joe Heck, Richard Burr ahead of Debates
Washington, DC –– As Republican Senate candidates try to distance themselves from Trump, and ahead of many Senate debates, Planned Parenthood Votes and Planned Parenthood Action Fund announced an over $2 million ad blitz in key Senate races. The robust ad campaign includes TV, digital, and direct mail that highlights Kelly Ayotte, Pat Toomey, Joe Heck, and Richard Burr’s extreme records of voting against women’s health care –– including votes to defund Planned Parenthood. The campaign will reach voters in North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
Planned Parenthood Votes’ TV ad buy targets Joe Heck for his votes to defund Planned Parenthood. It will run in English and Spanish in the Las Vegas media market. Planned Parenthood Votes is also running digital ads in Nevada, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania. In addition, Planned Parenthood Action Fund is running a direct mail program that will reach hundreds of thousands of voters in NorthCarolina and Pennsylvania.
Quote from Deirdre Schifeling, Executive Director, Planned Parenthood Votes:
“There’s so much at stake in the Senate races this year. Each one of these Republican Senate candidates has voted to defund Planned Parenthood and staked out positions that threaten millions of women across this country. Not only is this agenda dangerous, but it is incredibly unpopular. We are knocking on doors, making phone calls, and doing everything we can to make sure voters understand what’s at stake –– and that we vote these candidates out of office in November.”
This ad blitz is part of Planned Parenthood Votes and Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s efforts to elect women’s health champions to the U.S. Senate. Together, the organizations are running their largest electoral program in history. Through robust canvassing programs, phone banks, direct mail, and ads, Planned Parenthood Votes and Planned Parenthood Action Fund will spend $30 million reaching and educating 3 million voters in North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Reproductive health care is a deciding electoral issue. Recent polling shows that voters in swing states have an overwhelmingly positive view of Planned Parenthood and are less likely to support candidates that have voted to defund the health care provider.
