Six-figure ad campaign includes TV and digital ads on news sites and mobile phones
Campaign focuses on Clinton’s long record of fighting for reproductive health
Washington, DC – Today, Planned Parenthood Votes launched the #ShesWithUs campaign — a six-figure TV and digital ad buy in Nevada featuring the stories of real women sharing why they support Secretary Clinton for president. The TV and digital ad buy includes three videos — “Reyna,” “Latonya,” and “Lisa” — which will run on broadcast and cable channels as well as online high-traffic Nevada newsites. In addition, digital banner ads and mobile phone ads will run through the week until the day of the caucuses.
All three women featured in the ad campaign are Planned Parenthood Action Fund members from Nevada. In the ads, they discuss what’s at stake for women in this election, and why Secretary Clinton’s unrivaled record as a lifelong women’s health champion shows that #ShesWithUs.
Reyna, a second generation Mexican American, single mother, and HIV/AIDS advocate, supports Hillary because of her long record of fighting to protect and expand reproductive health care — regardless of your income or immigration status. She appears in the ad with her son.
- Latonya worked as a social worker for years, and supports Hillary because of her plan to directly address health care disparities, and fight back against the political attacks on access to reproductive health care. Latonya now works with Planned Parenthood of Southern Nevada as a community health educator.
- Lisa, a single mother and former Planned Parenthood patient, supports Hillary because she wants to elect someone who will make the world a safe place for her daughter. She appears in the ad with her daughter and her mother — who also happens to be a Hillary supporter.
Quote from Deirdre Schifeling, Executive Director of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund:
“There’s only one candidate in this race who for decades has been an outspoken champion for women’s health and rights — and who has a real plan to not just protect the progress we’ve made, but to keep expanding women’s access to basic health care. Hillary Clinton fought — and succeeded — in expanding women’s access to birth control as a Senator, and was one of the earliest and most prominent voices supporting the Affordable Care Act — when so many were trying to tear it down. Clinton has faced down political attacks on the health care Planned Parenthood provides time and time again. And Hillary Clinton will keep fighting to ensure everyone has access to basic reproductive health care — regardless of their income, zip code, or immigration status.”
“Women across the country are standing up to say they support Hillary Clinton, because they know she will fight for our families, our health, and our children’s future. Their message is clear: we stand with her because, no matter what, she’s with us.”
In conjunction with Planned Parenthood Votes’ ad buy, Planned Parenthood Action Fund will be running a grassroots campaign to reach out to tens of thousands of Nevada voters before Saturday’s Caucus.
Secretary Clinton has spent her entire career fighting to expand access to birth control and basic health care so that everyone --- regardless of where you come from or how much money you make — has the care they need. As Senator, Hillary Clinton introduced 8 pieces of legislation with the clear purpose of expanding and protecting women’s access to reproductive health care — when others in Congress were intent on blocking it. And she has stood by and fought for the millions of women, men, and young people who rely on Planned Parenthood for care.
Planned Parenthood Action Fund endorsed Hillary Clinton in front of a crowd of 500 in New Hampshire on January 10. Planned Parenthood political and advocacy organizations plan to spend an unprecedented $20 million in this election cycle, with a focus on the presidential race, as well as key Senate races in New Hampshire, Nevada, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Ohio to make sure voters know where the candidates stand on these issues and how candidates’ positions will impact them.
The Planned Parenthood Action Fund endorsement decision followed a robust, months-long process. All three Democratic candidates were interviewed by a panel made up of supporters — patient advocates, medical professionals, activists, volunteers and Action Fund members. The endorsement was then evaluated and voted on by more than 100 representatives from across all 50 states.
Women’s health was a deciding issue in the 2012 presidential election. Romney took a hard stance on Planned Parenthood and reproductive health care in 2012, and he then lost the election by the biggest gender gap in recent history. In Virginia in 2013, women’s health was a deciding factor when Terry McAuliffe won women overall — and won 59% of the votes of people who said abortion was the most important issue to them, a total of 20% of the electorate.
Fifteen national polls since last summer have shown strong support for Planned Parenthood. Polling in major swing states also shows strong support for Planned Parenthood.
Remember, there’s a lot at stake in this election.
Hillary Clinton is a champion for women’s health care.
That’s why Planned Parenthood Action Fund has endorsed her.
I’m with Hillary because she’s with us.
For me this is personal. Hillary Clinton’s been a champion for women and girls.
She’s fought to protect Planned Parenthood and to make sure every woman has access to birth control.
I’m with her because she’s with us.
Congress keeps trying to defund Planned Parenthood and restrict access to health care.
Having a president that is committed to women’s health is really important.
That’s why I’m voting for Hillary Clinton.
I’m with her because she’s with us.
